The Perfume Pagoda is one of the most important religious sites in Buddhist Vietnam. Every spring, after the Vietnamese New Year, thousands of Vietnamese pilgrims come here to pray for the health and prosperity they need all through the year. The pagoda can only be reached by boat as there is no road. Cruise along scenic waterways and walk up mountain paths to visit the pagodas and temples built in this area over the centuries.
Pick-up at your hotel and drive south to Ninh Binh (110km, 2-hour drive from Hanoi). Enjoy the beautiful and picturesque sceneries of the rural areas on the way. Visit Hoa Lu and the temples dedicated to King Dinh and King Le, the two heroes who lived in the 10th century and chose this site to build the citadel of the capital city. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Then visit Tam Coc (10 km far from Hoa Lu) and get on a rowing boat paddled by villagers for a river cruise. Return transfer to Hanoi.
